Building a Positive Impact
Mission Drawdown
We have a mission to reach net zero by 2028. We also are committed to planting 800 natives per year in an effort to restore biodiversity and to contribute to drawdown of greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere.
Climate change and loss of biodiversity are the most serious issue of our time. Buildings are major drivers of greenhouse gas emissions and the materials and processes to create them is responsible for 38% of global energy-related CO2 emissions.
While the initial emissions to construct a home are high, running the home can emit that same amount every six years. In other words, running a home has a far bigger impact on emissions. This is why it’s important to build as efficiently as possible, to reduce energy input, and emissions for the life of the home.
We are working in partnership with our designers, suppliers, and clients, to create homes and communities that improve, rather than deminish, the resilience of the natural world.
As a company, we are acting now to fight climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and contributing to drawdown of greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere through restoring biodiversity. In 2020 and 2021 we funded land, native plants, irrigation, and staff time to plant and build a native reserve here in Canterbury. We are committed to adding 800 natives each year, to help restore native biodiversity in New Zealand and help draw CO2 from the atmosphere. This is mission drawdown.

We are:
Reducing emissions for transportation – we are prioritising local materials, and considering energy used and emissions that result from transportation.
Cutting down on waste – we are considering the life cycle of every material we use, aiming to reduce waste that goes to landfill now and into the future. We are coordinating re-use and recycling opportunities and prioritising compostable materials.
Measuring success – we are setting targets for our business and measuring our performance against them.
Prioritising sustainable suppliers – we check with all suppliers to make sure they are accountable with details around their policies and targets for emissions, waste reduction, transport planning and raw material reduction.
